Our Sea Salt
Our artisanal sea salt is made entirely by hand in small batches from seawater we harvest directly from the Atlantic Ocean, then filter, solar evaporate, and package. All steps – from the ocean to the bottle – take place in Amagansett, a small, oceanfront hamlet in the Hamptons area of Long Island, New York.
Our process is entirely natural, requiring only the sun, the wind, a strong back, and patience. By carefully balancing solar evaporation and exposure to the wind, our Amagansett Sea Salt forms slowly over time into crystals with a mild, sweet, briny flavor and a distinctive soft “crunch” that enhances any food.
We do not wash or bleach our salt. The seawater we collect is not boiled. Our sea salt is not oven or kiln dried. We use no drying or anti-caking agents. Except for select and all-natural herbs and citrus peels used to craft our seasoned sea salt blends, we add nothing to the clean ocean water. That’s correct, nothing. As a result, our 100% natural and unrefined sea salt retains the nutritious trace minerals naturally occurring in seawater.
Experts worldwide herald sea salt as significantly superior to table salt in both taste and nutrition. Unrefined sea salt contains the minerals and micronutrients present in the ocean and which have been shown to support life and good health.
Use Amagansett Sea Salt as a “finishing salt.” Sprinkle a few crystals on seafood, steak, poultry, chocolate, vegetables, salads, fruit or anything else you want to add delicious flavor to. The unique mineral, moisture, and crystalline qualities of our sea salt play off your food to give more flavor and better texture to everything you serve.
Finishing salt is put on food after it is prepared. By using less salt - or no salt at all - while cooking, then dressing your dish with a finishing salt, the salt crystals are brought into direct contact with your food for a more intimate and effective contact with your palate. The result is a significant improvement and boost to the flavor, aroma, texture, and appearance of your food.
