Amagansett Sea Salt is premium finishing salt. Reduce salt when cooking, but dress your plated foods with our sea salt. Everything you eat will look, feel and taste better!
Go light - our salt is potent. Depending on your food, 1, 2, or 3 grains per bite is all you need. Our salt starts with a beautiful, visible impact (we start to eat with our eyes). Next comes its wonderful soft crunch in your mouth. Finally, the salt boosts the flavors of the foods in your mouth.
We are not a salt importer or blender; rather we make our salt crystals by solar evaporating clean, cold, fast-moving ocean water outdoors in clean, fresh ocean air. We make salt outdoors in the sunshine and bathed by ocean breezes. We do not boil or oven-dry seawater. We do not trap the process in a greenhouse. We use no chemicals or anti-caking agents. We've eliminated all metal from contacting our sea water and salt crystals. Producing salt this way is incredibly slow, difficult, labor intensive and weather dependent, but the results are worth it.
Amagansett Sea Salt is crafted entirely by hand in small batches from Atlantic Ocean seawater. All steps from the ocean to the jar – take place in Amagansett, a small, oceanfront hamlet in the Hamptons area of Long Island, New York. Our process is entirely natural, requiring only the sun, the wind, a strong back, and patience. By carefully balancing solar evaporation and exposure to the crisp, clear ocean breezes, seawater forms slowly into white, coarse salt crystals having a mild, sweet, flavor and a distinctive soft crunch. Clean water. Clean air. Exceptional sea salt.
Our American made sea salt is best described as a cross between "sel gris" and "traditional" salt and is comprised of individually formed square grains and fractured irregular plate-like crystals. Amagansett Sea Salt is valued for its briny taste of the Northeast and the Atlantic (chefs describe it as akin to, but superior than, Fleur de Sel), pleasingly distinct texture (not too hard and not too soft), and beautiful grain shape, size, and color.
It's like the fleur de sel of New York,
said one James Beard award winning chef. Amagansett Sea Salt Salt is used in top ranked restaurants and by producers of high end food products and home cooks across the U.S. and the world.
All salt is not sea salt. All sea salt is not solar evaporated. All solar salt is not evaporated outoors and naturally. Finishing salts are not all the same; try our Amagansett Sea Salt and we are sure you will agree and will become a loyal fan and customer.
