We began Amagansett Sea Salt in 2011 as an adventure marrying two of our favorite things – fine food and life by the sea. Today, salt making is our passion and our full-time business.

Throughout our marriage, we spent time away from our careers as attorneys traveling and enjoying the simple pleasures of a good meal, with the freshest ingredients, simply prepared and properly seasoned. We explored and were intrigued by the traditions of salt making in the most picturesque and tranquil places in the world. As we spent more and more time in our cherished childhood beach town of Amagansett, we began exploring the craft of salt making. What started as a hobby more than twenty years ago turned into years developing our salt making process: from the design of our unique solar-evaporating salterns, to the manner by which we carefully tend our crop, to experimenting with flavors that pair well with our delicate salt.

And yes, we collect seawater bucket by bucket, by hand, year round. And yes, every grain of Amagansett Sea Salt is harvested by hand. We continue to do this because we know how good our sea salt tastes and we want to share it. We know our finishing salt will make your food taste better whether you are a professional chef or a home cook. We know we love creating something beautiful together. And we know it is better than filling out time sheets.
